To Whom It May Concern:
Our experince with Derrick Commercial Contracting was, simply put, wonderful!
Our plan was to develop a 40 acre site as a second campus for our congregation's ministries. Working with Station 19 Architects, and another contrator, a structure was designed which would meet our need. Although our budget was clearly in mind from the beginning, the result of our planning was that the project would cost roughly $25. million more than our budget: about $8 million. A round of cuts followed but the projected cost was still far over our abliity to pay for it.
One of our building committee members, who is a general contractor, urged us to work with his competitor, Derrick. While the committee was anticipating further rounds of cuts, Derrick urged us to let them work on the project as originally conceived. Their work in value engineering resulted in a proposal to construct all that we had originally planned and to do so within the $5.5 million that our budget allowed for the entire scope of the project, including land, site development costs, constrcution and FF&E.
The construction phase was well managed in every way. The project was begun on time, progressed as planned, and was completed on time. Along the way, Mark Johnson and Mike Mikla were unfailingly helpful sub developing plans to the church's best advantage and in solving problems as they arose. All the while their effort assured high quality work product by the sub contractors who were part of the project.
We are very pleased with Bethel Highlands Campus and grateful for our partnership with Derrick in bringing it from plan to reality.
Sincerely,
Dennis R. Nelson,
