Jim Sanderson Biography

Jim Sanderson joined the RSI staff in 1989 following 26 years in Christian ministry, including 23 years as a senior pastor of six congregations. His pastoral and development experience provide an excellent foundation for Jim's work as a consultant with RSI. Leading nearly 200 stewardship programs, generating in excess of $300 million for local ministry, further honed Jim's analytical skills and strategic planning abilities. He has demonstrated expertise working with independent churches and churches in each of the mainline denominations. He has worked extensively with multi-ethnic congregations and projects including construction, renovation, relocation, debt retirement, mission and budget enhancement efforts. Organizations he has worked with include the First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, Brentwood United Methodist Church in Brentwood, Tennessee and the First Presbyterian Church of North Palm Beach, Florida.

Jim also served as Director of Development and Public Relations to 1,600 churches for his denomination. An accomplished writer, Jim published articles and Bible study materials for use in local churches. His talents make him a sought-after speaker and seminar leader for local church stewardship development in addition to serving as a consultant for his denomination's annual giving program.

Jim and his wife, Sue, live in McKinney, Texas. They have two sons and two grandchildren. They enjoy camping and fly-fishing in the mountains and an occasional round of golf. He is a member of the Alumni Associations for Oklahoma State University and Southwestern Theological Seminary. In 1985, he was elected First Vice President of his state convention and was conferred an honorary doctorate for his extensive development work in behalf of his denomination.
